What this site collects
If you accept analytics cookies, this site uses Google Analytics to understand how it's used. It records:
- which pages you view;
- how long each page is open and in use;
- your approximate location (country, region and city), worked out from your IP address;
- basic technical details, such as your browser, device type, screen size and the site that sent you here.
Google Analytics doesn't log or store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, and nothing collected here is used for advertising. The analytics reports show visits in aggregate and don't identify anyone.
Cookies
If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies for lsabencher.com: _ga and _ga_Q9G94WEYPQ. They tell one visit from another and expire two years after your most recent visit.
If you decline, or don't choose, Google Analytics isn't loaded and no cookies are set. Your choice itself is saved in your browser's local storage, under analytics-consent, so the banner doesn't come back on every page. It stays on your device and isn't sent anywhere.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, or with the button below. Withdrawing consent deletes the Google Analytics cookies this site set in your browser. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser's settings.
Who receives the data
Google LLC processes the analytics data for this site and may store it outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws there. Google explains its handling in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in its Privacy Policy.
How long it's kept
Google Analytics keeps visit-level data for the retention period set in this site's Google Analytics account, then deletes it. Reports built from that data, which don't identify anyone, may be kept longer.
Forum registration
If you register for a candidates forum, the site saves the name, email address and Law Society roll number you enter and, if you give one, your firm or organization, along with when you registered. These details are used to manage registration and attendance for that forum: the roll number to confirm that registrants are among the lawyers the forum is intended for, and the email address to send you the details to join ahead of the event. Only the site's organizers can see them.
Registrations are stored in a Cloudflare database, which may be located outside Canada. They're kept only as long as they're needed for the forum.
If you close the forum notice or switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers that in its local storage, under forum-notice-closed and theme. It stays on your device and isn't sent anywhere.
Hosting
Cloudflare hosts this site. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the details your browser sends with each request, and keeps short-lived request logs.
