Candidate statement

As published on the candidate's Law Society of Alberta election profile.

I respectfully seek your support in the upcoming Bencher election.

For more than 21 years, I have lived and practised law and mediation in Lloydminster and the surrounding region, holding both Alberta and Saskatchewan bar admissions. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving individuals, families, and businesses during some of the most significant and challenging moments of their lives. Those experiences have reinforced my appreciation for the essential role lawyers play in upholding the rule of law, strengthening public confidence in our justice system, and serving our communities with integrity.

I have been a Bencher for 3 years and seek your support to continue in that role.  As Benchers, we are entrusted with regulating the profession in the public interest. I am committed to bringing my experience, sound judgment, and collaborative approach to support the Law Society’s strategic vision and ensure our province is served by a profession that remains strong, responsive, and trusted.

Technology is reshaping the delivery of legal services and changing public expectations, and the regulator plays an important role to ensure it is adopted responsibly in a manner that protects the public and upholds professional and ethical standards. Thoughtful regulation can help harness the benefits of innovation while preserving the confidence and trust that are fundamental to an effective legal system.

Professional competence is essential to ensuring Albertans continue to receive high-quality legal services from lawyers who can meet the evolving demands of modern practice. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated this commitment through ongoing professional development, staying current with changes in the law and technology, and embracing innovation to better serve clients. Practising in Lloydminster has reinforced for me the importance of competent legal representation, particularly in communities where access to legal services may be limited. This experience has strengthened my belief that the Law Society must continue to promote high standards of education, training, and practice support to maintain public confidence in the profession.

Throughout my career, I have valued collaboration, respectful dialogue, and practical problem-solving.   As a Bencher I bring a balanced perspective, a strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to serving the public interest. I listen carefully, engage thoughtfully, and work constructively with my fellow Benchers to address the issues facing the Law Society. I would be honoured to have your support to continue serving in this important role.

Thank you for your consideration and your vote.
